Learn how to identify a blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) bloom. There are multiple online resources, such as the Quebec government "Guide d’identification des fleurs d’eau de cyanobactéries" (available in French only). Others are available from the province of Ontario or from the United States. If you believe you have identified a bloom, take photos of the bloom and send them to the BFLA email address. Do not enter the water nor use the lake water for watering your garden or household use, as it may be toxic. Keep pets away as well. Alert your neighbours, as well as via the Lac Bell/Fraser lake Facebook group.
